...now when I make an alias and place it in the dock, when I sign out / quit the alias diappears...
Why are you making an alias and putting it in the dock? Just drag the original app into the dock, and it will always be there... no use for an alias unless you put it in a folder or desktop, or anywhere besides the dock.

Are they retail discs? Because you can't use a grey restore disc from a dissimilar machine to install OS X.

Yes there is, and this is how.
1) Add layer in Photoshop
2) Drop a black paint bucket
3) Merge Down
4) Save as..
This method also works well with white.

AMD's equivalent to Nvidia's gtx 560 is the Radeon 6950
You beat me to it xD
Yes, the Radeon 6950 is the equivalent. It is more power consuming and louder, but handles high-res monitors better. Also bigger.
The interwebz indeed will! Google (http://www.google.com) is your best friend.

I've always wanted one too. Would it work as a good web server? I might just make one a home file server.
yup should be great as a web server - bit expensive isnt it!?!?!? you could build a basic PC for ~$500

I'll be there, if I'm not working that day! Do you have to pre-order on the 10th to have any hope of getting one on launch day in store, or is there a chance of getting one on the day?
You have a chance if you queue up early enough, Although I doubt that the demand will be anything like the US - Either way the Apple Store is Newcastle covers a huge area unlike the London ones so best to Pre-order, I don't think you need to pay to reserve one anyway so you can walk right in and pay for it and it's there just for you.

Does anyone know of embroidery software where you can CREATE/digitize your own designs on a MAC for an embroidery machine. I've only been able to find software for PC users or software where all you can do is adjust colors, size etcetera.
thank you!
thank you!

Heres a video of one coming through Lee County, NC
Yes, I was listening to WDAV, Davidson, when the National Emergency Signal came on. Then I heard that one had touched down.
Very nasty.

Thanks for taking the time to review and photograph an interesting couple of cases. Really interesting design, especially the Ice. Since I don't change cases often, and don't use a screen protector, I might have been interested, but wow, those watermarks on the back really dampen the mood, so to speak . . .

I have a PowerBook G4 550Mhz and I have to say to you that it is very durable! Not a single scratch for a 10 month old Laptop. Please dont think that the Ti will break in your hands. If you have the option to go for the Ti, well, as a proud owner of one I can say to you... GO AHEAD AND BUY IT!

Congrats on the B&W purchase.
I'll second the suggestion to go to xlr8yourmac.com. They have tons of info on this computer model. I own several of these myself.
Two apps you will want to search for right away are DIMM First Aid and the IDE corruption tester that are mentioned on the xlr8 site. The old rev.1 B&Ws were very picky about the installed RAM and were known to have data corruption issues because of faulty IDE controllers.
Don't get Tiger and try to run it with a 300MHz G3. You will be pulling your hair out in frustration. The best OS that I ran with this unit is Jaguar (10.2.8). Discs are readily available on eBay. If you pump up the RAM you could get Panther to run, but it will be sluggish.
CPU upgrades are available. There are G3s that run up to 1.1GHz and G4s that go to 1GHz. Be aware that G4 chips >600MHz will require the system bus speed to be lowered from 100MHz to 66MHz.
Again, check xlri8yourmac.com and good luck!
